2008 was quite a year!
The U.S. held a historic presidential election with many “first”s that broke barriers. The Republicans presented a female vice-presidential candidate, a female Democratic presidential candidate nominee received 18 million votes, and we elected our first African American president. China hosted the Olympic games. Michael Phelps broke records winning eight gold medals. Justin Timberlake and Andy Samberg came out with more dirty songs, usually dealing with their crotch(es), and Sarah Silverman let us all know what she was doing with Matt Damon. The Time Gods in Colorado will add a second to the time at 6:59:59 p.m. tomorrow, averting time disaster. Beyonce fell. The US economy fell apart. Elliot Spitzer spitzered a prostitute. CERN turned on the Large Hadron Collider, spinning particles around the bowels of western Europe trying to recreate the Big Bang. US troops have been in Iraq for five years. Bristol Palin gave birth. Britney came back. The stars aligned when the most talented comedic actress coincidentally looked exactly like the Republican vice-presidential candidate. Terror attacks in Mumbai shocked and saddened the world. Celebrities Heath Ledger, Paul Newman, Charlton Heston, Michael Crichton, David Foster Wallace and Tim Russert died.
Lots happened on Hil Street too! 2008 was a year of change. Ellie and Will got pregnant. Tara, Eric, Kevin and Sarah moved. Bobbi Kaye was promoted. Husbanks got one new job. I got two new jobs. I traveled to places far away and close to home. Husbanks and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. Keri, Greg and I lost our father.
