Welcome Home Ideas?

My cousin, Luc, has been in Iraq for a year-and-a-half. He is scheduled to return home on November 26. He is stationed out of Ft. Hood, Texas. While he was on tour, his wife, Alexis gave birth to a baby girl. With the stress of having a baby while her husband was in Iraq, she moved home to the Pacific Northwest so that she could be near her family. Because Luc’s return date is set, Alexis is ready to come back to Texas. Alexis is flying to Texas next month to look for a house at Ft. Hood and will stay in Austin with me. I am borrowing a play-pen for the baby to sleep in, but I want to think of other ways to make her visit as wonderful as possible. If you have any other ideas of ways to make her stay more pleasant, shoot me an e-mail or comment. I don’t have babies – so I may be overlooking something!

I don’t have a baby yet, either, but here’s an idea that might help her as she’s house hunting…
If she’s planning a Saturday/Sunday Open House trek, maybe you could get one of your friends to volunteer to watch the baby for a few hours so Alexis can househunt and not have to worry about dragging a little baby along with her. And that way you could join her, if you/she wanted. It might be nice for her to have a “local” like you to show her nice neighborhoods and where she might want to focus on looking. And a second set of non-buying eyes is great to have when looking. ?? Good luck!! You’re a very thoughful cousin.
